Emmy-winning soap star Marcy Walker launches health fundraiser

A GoFundMe page has been set up for Emmy-winning soap opera legend Marcy Walker, who is reportedly in need of urgent financial support as she tackles a major health issue. The 63-year-old actress, best known for playing Eden Capwell on Santa Barbara and Liza Colby on All My Children, has asked followers to “urgently” help her as she struggles to deal with the issue.

Career and Life After Acting

Marcy Walker has been regarded as a major television star, even receiving prestigious awards for her acting skills. When she left the soap in 2005, it marked her final on-screen appearance, as she turned her back on Hollywood to be a Christian minister in Huntersville, North Carolina. Since then, she has built a fulfilling career serving various churches, but is now facing mounting medical costs.

Despite this dramatic career shift, she remains cherished by devoted followers of her acting work and recently took part in a livestream gathering with them, according to the Express. The actress has now been hit with a significant health obstacle, prompting supporters to launch a GoFundMe campaign to secure desperately needed funds.

Fundraising Campaign Details

The fundraising page has been established by two devoted fans. While her specific medical condition remains undisclosed, organisers stress that financial assistance is “urgently needed.” “Today, Marcy needs our help,” the appeal states. “While she has spent years giving her time, energy, and heart to others − both as an actress and later through her dedicated ministry and community work − she is currently navigating an ongoing health issue where financial support is urgently needed.”

At the time of writing, the campaign has already secured $13,867 towards a $15,000 goal, with 149 individuals contributing. Detailing how the donations will be utilised, the organisers explained: “We want to surround Marcy with the same light and security she gave to us for so many years. Every single dollar raised through this page will go directly to Marcy to help cover her essential medical expenses, giving her the peace of mind she deserves.”

Livestream Event and Co-Star Support

A recent Santa Barbara reunion livestream event on June 7 also generated funds towards her medical costs, with her co-star A Martinez, who portrayed her romantic partner Cruz Castillo in the '80s soap, clarifying why supporters were being asked to pay for access. In a clip shared on his Instagram account, he explained: “Some folks have expressed disappointment over the cost. Now, out of respect for my partner's privacy, I did not speak to the reasons for the fee when first I posted. The fact is, Marcy has been ill and is working hard to get well, and in the process has come face to face with the financial challenges that so often plague those of us unlucky enough to need serious medical care in our country. She is in that need.”

Martinez continued: “We'll probably do a GoFundMe sometime over the summer, but the June 7 conversation will support our precious friend in a way that's both personal and I would imagine will end up being highly memorable for all of us. On behalf of both of us, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for considering it.”
