The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has confirmed the full list of 178 health conditions that qualify claimants for up to £114 weekly payments of Personal Independence Payment (PIP) in Greater Manchester. According to the latest DWP data released last week, a total of 235,244 PIP claims for these conditions were recorded across the region.
Nationally, more than four million people were claiming PIP as of April 2026, according to government figures. The disability benefit helps with extra costs caused by long-term disability, ill-health, or when people are approaching the end of their life due to a progressive disease.
How PIP Payments Work
PIP is not a single flat rate but is divided into two components. The daily living component covers extra costs of managing everyday tasks, with a standard rate of £76.55 per week and an enhanced rate of £114.80. The mobility component addresses challenges of getting around, with a base rate of £30.20 and an increased level of £80.10.

By qualifying for the enhanced daily living rate and a portion of the mobility support, eligible claimants can see their weekly total reach £187, equating to £748 per month.
