PepsiCo has issued an urgent recall for one flavour of Doritos crisp packs after discovering that some products may contain milk, which is not declared on the label. The recall specifically affects Doritos Chilli Heatwave crisps in 140g and 180g packets with a best before date of December 5, 2026.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has advised shoppers with a milk allergy or intolerance not to eat the product and to return it to the store where it was bought for a full refund. The FSA stated: "This product contains milk making it a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents."
Why the Recall Was Issued
According to the FSA, some packs of Doritos Chilli Heatwave may have been packed with the wrong product, containing tangy cheese seasoning that includes milk. The recall notice explains: "Some packs may contain tangy cheese seasoning, which contains milk, and are therefore incorrectly labelled." Although the product carries precautionary allergen labelling for milk, milk is not listed in the ingredients, posing a risk to people with milk allergy.
Impact on Consumers
Shoppers who have purchased the affected Doritos packs are urged not to consume them. The FSA advises returning the product to the point of purchase for a full refund. The recall is limited to the specified flavours and best before date, and no other Doritos products are affected.
