Daryl Hall, the 79-year-old star of Hall & Oates, revealed on Instagram that he recently underwent a kidney transplant from a living donor. The singer shared the health update on Tuesday, stating the surgery occurred "a couple of weeks ago" and was a complete success according to his doctors.
Hall's Statement and Fan Reaction
In his Instagram post, Hall wrote: "I thought you should know that I recently received a kidney transplant from a very kind and generous living donor. It happened a couple of weeks ago, and I'm already starting to feel better. It was, according to my doctors, a complete success! I should be back to normal in a few months, so get ready for more music and lots of Daryl's House shows. You all take care!"
Fans quickly flooded the comments with well-wishes. One commented: "Wow, I could not be happier to hear this! Praying for a full and complete recovery for you, Daryl." Another wrote: "Prayers for you Daryl, thanks for the update. Many of us have been worrying about you in what seems a long absence. Please take care and heal well."
Health and Career Update
Hall did not provide details on what led to the surgery. His last album, D, was released in 2024, and his latest live performance was in August 2025 at the Minnesota State Fair. He has no plans to reunite with former bandmate John Oates, after they announced their musical separation in 2023.
Oates previously explained: "As time went on, as we both got older and our life experiences changed, our relationships changed, then we started to not have the same goals anymore. That's really what happened."
