Comedian Hospitalised with Brain Injury After Lime Bike Crash

BBC star and stand-up comedian Luisa Omielan, 43, has been hospitalised with a minor brain injury after accidentally crashing a Lime bike into a brick wall. She was rushed to A&E three separate times and diagnosed with a minor brain injury, Post Concussion Syndrome, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The crash also broke her nose.

Comedian Shares Health Update

In a recent update video, Omielan informed fans: "Just wanted to give an update. Everything is going to be fine, but I have had a minor brain injury and have been diagnosed with Post Concussion Syndrome and PTSD." She said the hospital visits had "knocked her sideways."

Omielan also revealed that her beloved dog Bernie is facing health issues: "My sweet Bernie is also having some health issues at the moment because we are twins and do everything together. She has been an absolute trooper and I am very lucky to have her and love her so much."

Recovery and Cancelled Performances

"One of the trickiest things is keeping going when life knocks you sideways. It's just going to take a little time. These past few weeks have been incredibly challenging, but I'm grateful that there's a clear path forward now. I just need to focus on recovery," she said, according to the Express.

She added: "I'm also very lucky to have my wonderful sister, who's been gently pushing me through exposure therapy and encouraging me to try things again, one step at a time."

As a result of her injuries, Omielan has cancelled several upcoming performances to take a breather while she recovers. "A huge shout-out to the kindness of strangers. With everything that's happened over the last four weeks, every time I've needed help, someone has stepped in," she said.

Gratitude and Support

"It has genuinely restored my faith in people. If you ever wonder whether to offer someone a hand, I'd always rather someone ask than walk past," Omielan stated. She explained that she is not creating much content or able to work currently, and many fans have asked how to support her. "If you'd like to, my Patreon has been a life line, it is my only income until I'm well enough to plan and deliver shows."

She concluded: "I am so grateful to my gang for helping me through this time. Thank you all for the love and kindness, sorry to the audiences and venues I have had to cancel, I am gutted and want to come back ASAP."
