BBC Radio 2 DJ Trevor Nelson has announced he will be taking a break from his regular broadcasting duties after being advised to undergo follow-up tests following a routine check-up. The 62-year-old presenter, who typically hosts the weekday afternoon slot from 2pm to 4pm, has been absent from his show this week.
Social Media Announcement
In a post on Instagram, Nelson addressed his followers directly: "I wanted to let my followers, radio listeners and all my Soul Nation party-people know that I'm going to be taking a little break from my work commitments. Some of you may already have noticed that I've not been on my daily Radio 2 slot this week." He explained that after a routine check-up, he was advised to have follow-up tests and will take further time off. "As I'm sure you can appreciate with health issues, it's important to deal with facts and not speculate. So I'm concentrating on getting better, being back to 100% me and to getting back behind the mic and the decks."

Fans and fellow broadcasters quickly rallied around Nelson. Richie Anderson, presenter of BBC One's Escape to the Country, wrote: "Get well soon Trevor. You're so loved mate look after yourself xx." BBC's Sonali Shah added a red love heart emoji. Lauren Laverne commented: "Sending lots of love and keeping everything crossed for you. I know how that can feel - take it one step at a time and try not to jump ahead. xxx." The official BBC Radio 2 account said: "Sending so much love from the Radio 2 family."
