An air ambulance landed near the North East coast on Monday evening after being called to a 'medical incident' at a private property in Whitley Bay. The Great North Air Ambulance Service dispatched its critical care team shortly before 7.20pm to assist paramedics from the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS).
Response and Treatment
The aircraft, carrying a paramedic and a doctor, arrived on the scene at 7.36pm. The team worked alongside NEAS to assess and treat a patient, who was then transported to hospital by road. An air ambulance crew member accompanied the patient during the journey.

A spokesperson for the Great North Air Ambulance Service said: "Our critical care team was activated at 7.19pm to reports of a medical incident in Whitley Bay. We had a paramedic and doctor on board our aircraft and they arrived on scene at 7.36pm. Our team worked alongside the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) to assess and treat a patient. The patient was taken to hospital by a NEAS road crew, accompanied by our team."
A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson added: "We were called to a person unwell at a private address in Whitley Bay on Monday 8 June at 6.30pm. We dispatched one ambulance crew, one rapid response paramedic, the specialist patient handling team and were supported by our colleagues at Great North Air Ambulance Service. One patient was taken to Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital (NSEC) by road for further treatment."
