Yasmina Khan, known as the Bengali Goddess, has told fans she is going celibate after undergoing surgery for endometriosis. The adult star, who is one of the UK's most popular in her field, made the announcement in a social media post last week, following the procedure.
Surgery and recovery
Khan revealed the surgery passed without complications, and in a follow-up video she said she was "doing much better." The announcement came after she had previously shared that she constantly suffers pain while shooting her x-rated scenes.
In the comment section of her post, heartbroken fans expressed their sadness, with one writing: "What happened are you ok ? Can I help you in any way?"
Medical condition and diagnosis
Last year, Khan first revealed her medical condition, which causes severe pain during and after nearly every adult shoot. When a fan asked if she "enjoys" her work or ever "feels pain," she responded: "I have a tilted cervix and a condition called adenomyosis, which causes me pain during sex like 80% of the time and I can't do anything to prevent it unfortunately. It's annoying because I do enjoy it but then the pain is like holaaaa."
In a detailed discussion with the Daily Star, she elaborated on when the issues began. She said: "I got diagnosed with endometriosis about four or five years ago. It causes abdominal pain, low moods and bloating. I've had issues in that area all my life, and I started my period really young at around the age of nine or 10 which is crazy."
She continued: "I was always in pain, but the doctors and my mum told me to deal with it not knowing I had an issue, but five years ago I had keyhole surgery to see what was going on down there and that's when they found the endometriosis. They burnt it during the surgery, but it always comes back...and a few months later I felt so much worse, started getting ovarian cysts, and every time I started having sex I'd be in pain, during and after, and they (the doctors) said there was nothing they could do."
Impact and ongoing symptoms
Last year, Khan underwent another operation which revealed adenomyosis and a tilted cervix. Adenomyosis is a condition where the lining of the uterus grows into the muscle wall, distinct from endometriosis, where similar tissue grows elsewhere like the ovaries or fallopian tubes. According to the NHS, symptoms include painful periods, heavy bleeding, pelvic pain, bloating, and pain during sex.
Khan added: "The doctors told me 'you're not dying, you're fine' – but I'm not fine. Every single day I'm in pain, every time I have sex I'm in pain. Sometimes it's fine, some times I'm in agony. I'm in the worst job possible, but it's something I love to do. I have sex in my personal life anyway, so if I'm having it there, why not do it for work as well if it's going to pay me regardless."
