SPAR Recalls Sauce Over Soya Allergy Risk

SPAR UK has issued an urgent recall for Clayton Park Kitchen Chicken & Mushroom sauce after discovering the product may contain soya, an allergen not listed on the label. The 440g packs, covering all Use-By dates, pose a potential health risk to individuals with soya allergies or sensitivities.

Recall Details and Consumer Advice

The affected product has the barcode 5023282406617. SPAR UK advises customers who have purchased the item not to consume it and to return it to any SPAR store for a full refund. The recall applies to all batches of the sauce, regardless of the Use-By date.

A SPAR UK spokesperson stated: "As a precaution, SPAR UK is recalling a batch of the following product due to: Allergen - Soya. Clayton Park Kitchen Chicken & Mushroom sauce 1 x 440G is being recalled because it may contain allergen Soya which is not mentioned on the label. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to Soya or sensitivity to Soya allergen. Please do not consume the product. Please return the product to the store you purchased it from for a full refund. SPAR UK would like to sincerely apologise to our customers for any inconvenience caused."

Food Standards Agency Involvement

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has also publicised the recall. An FSA spokesperson said: "SPAR UK is recalling the above product from customers and has been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall. The company has also issued a recall notice to its customers. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product. If you have bought the above product and have an allergy to soya, do not eat it. Instead, return the product to the store you purchased it from for a full refund."

Recent Allergy-Related Recalls

This recall follows a similar incident at Morrisons, which recently recalled a football-themed product over allergy concerns. The FSA continues to monitor food safety issues and advises consumers to check product labels and recall notices regularly.
