Krispy Kreme has issued an urgent recall for two of its doughnut products after discovering they may contain undeclared hazelnuts, posing a serious risk to individuals with nut allergies. The affected items are the Individual Pitch Perfect Doughnut and the Match Day Dozen, both of which may have hazelnuts not listed on the packaging or disclosed at the point of sale.
Products Affected and Best-Before Dates
The recall applies to products with best-before dates of June 21 and June 22, 2026. Only doughnuts supplied from Krispy Kreme's Peterborough manufacturing site are affected; items from other locations are not included in the recall. The company advises customers who have purchased these products to check the best-before dates and origin.
Health Risks and Consumer Advice
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has issued an allergy alert, warning that the undeclared hazelnuts could cause severe reactions in people with nut allergies. Even trace amounts can trigger anaphylaxis in sensitive individuals. Consumers with a hazelnut allergy or intolerance are urged not to eat the affected products under any circumstances.
Krispy Kreme stated: "We are recalling our limited-time Pitch Perfect Doughnut because it may contain hazelnuts (nuts) which are not declared on the package or at point of sale." The company added that affected products were sold in stores supplied from its Peterborough doughnut site.
Refund Process and Customer Support
Customers who have purchased the affected doughnuts can return them to the store where they were bought for a full refund. No receipt is required to claim the refund. Krispy Kreme has also contacted allergy support organizations to help spread awareness of the recall. For further information, customers can email customercare@krispykreme.co.uk.
Food recalls involving allergens are treated with high priority because even small amounts of an undeclared ingredient can cause life-threatening reactions. The FSA regularly issues allergy alerts and urges shoppers to check recall notices carefully.
