Thousands of baby loungers sold on Amazon have been urgently recalled over fears they could cause serious injury or death. The URMYWO Baby Loungers, which number around 23,000, were recalled on Thursday after failing to meet the mandatory safety standards for infant sleep products.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) identified several safety issues, including sides that are too short to secure an infant, a sleeping pad that is too thick and poses a suffocation hazard, and an opening at the foot of the lounger from which a baby could fall or become trapped. The loungers also lack a stand, increasing the risk of falls.
The recalled products were sold by a Chinese retailer on Amazon between January last year and April this year. Consumers are advised to stop using the loungers immediately and contact the seller for a full refund.
In a separate warning last month, the CPSC urged parents to be aware of counterfeit Labubu dolls, known as Lafufus, which pose a serious choking risk to young children. The commission has requested the seizure of thousands of these knock-offs being shipped from China after they were found to violate federal regulations for toys with small parts.
