Norovirus Outbreak on Caribbean Princess Sickens Over 100
Norovirus Hits Caribbean Princess: Over 100 Ill

A fresh norovirus outbreak has struck the Caribbean Princess cruise ship, leaving more than 100 people ill. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported that 102 passengers and 13 crew members have been affected. Those unwell have been isolated from healthy individuals to prevent further spread.

Details of the Outbreak

The ship, operated by Princess Cruises, departed from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on April 28 and is scheduled to return on Monday. According to CruiseMapper, the vessel is currently off the north coast of the Dominican Republic, with a planned stop in Nassau, the Bahamas, on Sunday.

Norovirus is highly contagious and commonly spreads in confined environments like cruise ships. Symptoms include vomiting, diarrhea, and stomach cramps. The CDC and cruise line are implementing enhanced sanitation protocols and monitoring the situation closely.
