Trisha Goddard, 68, Shares Positive Brain Scan Results in Upbeat Cancer Update
Trisha Goddard's defiant cancer update after clear brain scan

In a defiant and uplifting New Year's message, veteran broadcaster Trisha Goddard has shared positive health news with her supporters. The 68-year-old revealed that recent scans show her metastatic breast cancer has not spread to her brain.

A Welcome Relief After Routine Scans

Goddard, who was diagnosed with incurable stage four breast cancer in 2023, posted the update on social media following routine MRI and CAT scans. She described these tests as a regular part of her life amid ongoing treatment. The TV personality joked that she had "said goodbye to 2025 by having a brain scan" in an unconventional end to the year.

She expressed immense gratitude for receiving her results with remarkable speed. "Thank heavens, I got my results about an hour after my scan via a special app on my phone," Goddard wrote. She added that she couldn't imagine facing the New Year "full of angst" waiting for the outcome, extending her sympathy to others in that difficult position.

Monitoring the 'Whack-A-Mole' of Cancer Cells

Screenshots included in her social media post confirmed the positive findings, stating there was 'no evidence of metastatic disease' in her brain. Goddard explained that frequent testing, alongside continuous blood work, is how her medical team monitors her condition.

She used vivid language to describe the process, saying her oncology team "keeps tabs on all those little f***er cancer cells they're constantly playing 'Whack-A-Mole' with!". Depending on results, her treatments and medications are adjusted to outmanoeuvre the disease.

The post featured a cheerful montage of hospital photos and a clip of her dancing and beaming in front of her Christmas tree, embodying her upbeat spirit.

Advocating for Patient-Centred Cancer Care

Goddard used the moment to thank medical staff who worked over the festive period and to champion her passion for improved cancer services. She is a strong advocate for "joined-up" and patient-centred care.

She revealed she recently met with fellow metastatic breast cancer patient and Health Minister Ashley Dalton to discuss involvement in the government's upcoming Cancer Plan. "What a woman!" Goddard said of the MP, promising more details on their collaboration soon.

This update follows an emotional birthday post at Christmas where she danced in a video, proudly declaring "I made it! 68 today!". Goddard first battled breast cancer in 2008 before her secondary diagnosis 15 years later.

In April 2024, she made history by becoming the first person with terminal cancer to enter the Celebrity Big Brother house. She told the Daily Mail she participated to prove to patients they should "not be scared of living" after a diagnosis. Prior to entering, she managed her health meticulously, receiving a "soupcon of chemo and targeted hormone therapy" and taking necessary precautions for the journey from the US, where she now lives.

In addition to cancer, Goddard is also managing Raynaud's syndrome, a condition that reduces blood flow to extremities and can be a side effect of some cancer treatments, causing skin colour changes, burning, or numbness.
