Fox News contributor Kat Timpf has given a candid update on her breast cancer journey, revealing she is preparing for further reconstructive surgery following a double mastectomy earlier this year.
Timpf, best known for her appearances on the late-night show Gutfeld!, was diagnosed with breast cancer hours before going into labour in February. She underwent a double mastectomy on 19 March, after which she was declared cancer-free, and had reconstruction surgery over the summer.
Speaking to People magazine, Timpf described the emotional toll of losing her breasts shortly after giving birth. "It's heartbreaking," she said. "But I keep reminding myself that I chose this over the alternative." She also admitted to feeling like a "bad mom" for not being able to breastfeed or lift her newborn son.
The 35-year-old is now looking forward to a nipple reconstruction procedure on 4 December, with a follow-up tattooing session planned six months later. "I'm very excited," she said, adding that she might throw a party to celebrate.
Reflecting on her experience, Timpf acknowledged that there "really is no other side" of cancer. "I'm a changed person. I am not gonna be the same person that I was before I was told that I have cancer," she said. "I had a very unique experience being faced with both life and death in the same day."
Timpf urged young women to heed any unusual changes in their bodies, noting that she almost did not show a lump to her doctor. "If I hadn't, we could be having a very different conversation right now," she said.
