Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden has spoken out about the emotional impact of the Princess of Wales's cancer diagnosis, revealing that the news has 'hit me hard'. The 33-year-old dancer, who recently announced that doctors found no trace of cancer following her own battle with breast cancer, took to Instagram to share her thoughts.
In her message, Dowden wrote: 'The news has personally hit me hard, thinking so much about our Princes! Cancer doesn’t discriminate. There’s no textbook, right or wrong way to deal with a diagnosis and treatment.' She also recalled meeting the Princess during her treatment, describing her as 'kind, supportive and generous of time'.
The Princess of Wales, 42, announced her cancer diagnosis on Friday in a video message, explaining that she is undergoing preventative chemotherapy after tests revealed cancer following abdominal surgery. She said she is 'well and getting stronger every day'.
Dowden's post prompted an outpouring of support from fans, with one commenting: 'Well said Amy. It’s tough for the whole family.' Another wrote: 'Hit me hard too Amy I would not wish chemo on anyone x we have both been blessed to get through x and I send my love to Kate and all her family.'
