Strictly Come Dancing professional Amy Dowden has revealed she has been told there is 'no evidence of disease' following her breast cancer treatment, marking a significant milestone in her health journey. The 33-year-old dancer shared the joyful update with her Instagram followers on Friday, posting a picture of herself beaming with her arms in the air.
In her post, Dowden wrote: 'NO EVIDENCE OF DISEASE! Words I dreamed of! My biggest accomplishment yet! I won't be getting the all-clear for 5 years especially with a hormone fed cancer. But it was all worth it.' She added she will still require monthly injections and regular check-ups, but declared: 'Dance floor I'm coming for you!'
The news comes just days after Dowden was rushed to hospital and treated in a respiratory unit, with her husband Ben Jones spending hours by her bedside. She later told fans she was 'feeling much better' and thanked the NHS for the care she received.
Dowden has been open about her breast cancer diagnosis, which she discovered before her honeymoon. She plans to take the next few months to heal and recover, but is determined to return to the dance floor when ready. Fellow Strictly stars and fans flooded her post with congratulations, including Dianne Buswell who called it the 'best news to come this year'.
