90 Day Fiancé Star Chuck Potthast Dies at 64

Chuck Potthast, the father of 90 Day Fiancé star Elizabeth Castravet, has died at the age of 64. The news was confirmed by Elizabeth in a social media post, where she described the loss as a tragedy that has left the family “completely shattered.”

“My sweet, loving, and caring dad went to heaven,” Elizabeth wrote on Instagram alongside a family photo. She asked for privacy during this difficult time. The cause of death has not been disclosed.

Potthast was a familiar face on the TLC reality series, often appearing as a supportive father to Elizabeth during her relationship with husband Andrei Castravet. He frequently helped the couple navigate financial and cultural challenges as Andrei adapted to life in the United States.

In a 2022 episode of 90 Day Diaries, Potthast revealed he had been diagnosed with bladder cancer in 2016, which resulted in the removal of his bladder and the use of a urine pouch. He later shared a health update in September from his hospital bed, explaining that surgery to repair hernias from previous cancer operations had taken longer than expected due to a collapsed stomach wall.

Potthast’s daughter Becky also paid tribute on Instagram, writing that her father had “gone home to be with The Lord” two weeks prior. Fans and friends have expressed condolences, remembering Potthast as a kind, supportive father and a beloved figure on the show.
