A cinnamon powder product has been recalled across 14 US states due to potential lead contamination, according to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The recall, announced on Tuesday, involves Lucky Food Brands cinnamon powder distributed by TBC Distribution Corporate of Brooklyn.
The affected product was sold in 40-gram vacuum-sealed pouches with a best-before date of September 15, 2027. It was distributed to grocery stores, convenience stores, supermarkets, delis, bakeries, and restaurants from April 11 through September 1, 2025, in states including California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Texas.
The FDA warned that consuming the product could contribute to elevated levels of lead in the blood, with health effects depending on the lead level, consumer age, and other factors. No illnesses have been reported, but consumers are urged not to eat the product and to contact the company at 718-444-5556 for further information.
This recall follows a broader FDA public health alert issued in May 2024 for six cinnamon brands with high lead levels. Since then, additional brands have been added, including HAETAE and Roshni ground cinnamon in October, though no official recall was issued for those. Durra ground cinnamon and Wise Wife were also added earlier, with recalls issued for those products.
