Jamie Oliver returned to Channel 4 on Monday evening with a new episode of Jamie: What to Eat This Week. The chef served up autumnal dishes including a pear tarte tatin, which he described as “a very, very classy dessert”.
While dishing the French classic onto a plate, the 49-year-old said: “For me, I always take it from the back because it’s that lovely, crispy rim. So, I’m going to get in there, and that’s just the best bit.” Some viewers took the comment the wrong way and shared their hilarious reactions on Twitter/X. One user laughed: “One of the worst sentences I’ve ever heard.” Another wrote: “I’m so immature... Me and my cousin just looked at each other and laughed.”
Aside from the double entendre, other fans were loving the episode. A user named Jill tweeted: “@jamieoliver I am just loving watching your new series: What to eat.. All recipes are inspiring..” Craig praised: “#Jamiewhattoeat that monkfish looks amazing! @jamieoliver.”
The incident comes after Jamie and his wife Jools renewed their wedding vows for a second time to coincide with their 24th anniversary. The couple marked the milestone in Las Vegas at the Graceland Wedding Chapel with an Elvis Presley impersonator.
