Alison Hammond's 11 Stone Weight Loss Journey: Diet, Exercise & Reversing Prediabetes
Alison Hammond's 11st weight loss secrets revealed

Beloved television presenter Alison Hammond has undergone a remarkable physical transformation, shedding an incredible 11 stone over the past five years. The This Morning and Great British Bake Off star has achieved this through a complete overhaul of her lifestyle, focusing on sustainable changes rather than quick fixes.

The Fitness Regime Behind the Transformation

Alison, who will turn 51 in February, works closely with her personal trainer, Ellis Gatfield, typically around twice a week. Her fitness schedule is diverse, incorporating yoga, weight lifting, and regular walking to build strength and endurance. Gatfield recently shared a clip demonstrating Alison using resistance bands to perform sit-to-stand exercises, highlighting the functional nature of her training.

The Birmingham-born star has publicly praised Gatfield for kickstarting her entire fitness journey. "You have made my life so much easier by simple changes and kindness I will never forget," she said, crediting him with providing the foundational support she needed.

A Personal Motivation and Health Wake-Up Call

Hammond's motivation to get healthy was profoundly personal. She has revealed that her late mother, Maria, who died from liver and lung cancer in January 2020, urged her to make changes to ensure she could enjoy a long and happy life. This personal plea was coupled with a serious health scare when Alison was first advised to get healthy and was told she was pre-diabetic, a diagnosis she described as "frightening".

Moderation Over Deprivation

Unlike many drastic diets, Alison's approach has not involved cutting out specific foods or treats entirely. Instead, she focuses on moderation and making "simple changes" to how she approaches both food and movement. This balanced philosophy, developed with her trainer's guidance, has been key to her long-term success.

Addressing speculation, Alison has confirmed she does not use weight loss injections, such as Ozempic. However, she is supportive of others using whatever method works for them, responding to one critic by saying, "What does it matter how people lose weight? Would you rather me die from being obese?"

"No Difference At Any Time"

Despite her incredible physical change, the former Big Brother contestant is keen to dismiss the idea that losing weight has altered who she is. She insists "there's no difference at any time," regardless of her size, emphasising that her vibrant personality remains unchanged. Her journey stands as a powerful testament to improving health for longevity and wellbeing, rather than just aesthetics.
