Vet's Touching Message Comforts Owner After Cat's Death

A heartbroken pet owner has shared the touching gesture she received from her vet following the loss of her cat to end-stage kidney failure. The grieving owner received a message in the post featuring tender messages addressed from her late cat, Izzy.

She said on Reddit: 'My cat passed on Tuesday from the end stage of kidney failure. I got these in the mail today.' Accompanying the note was a pawprint with the phrases 'Paw-sitive I'll miss you,' and an imprint of her cat's nose and mouth followed by 'Kisses before I go!'

Overwhelmed by emotion, the woman expressed: 'Looking for her in spots that she would normally hang out and then not seeing her there is probably one of the hardest things.' Fellow social media users offered comfort, with one commenting: 'Stop. This would have wrecked me had the vet sent these. Mine passed away two weeks ago from the same, end stage renal failure. I miss her terribly and keep looking for her around the corners. Sending you hugs.'

Another user recounted: 'I lost my boy Louie very suddenly a few months ago and after a week or so I had a dream where I went to go to my car and opened the door and he ran in and went up to his favourite spot on the couch. They find ways to come back and visit.'

One user poignantly shared: 'My soul kitty Tessie passed almost three years ago from an intestinal blockage caused by a tumour on her spine. She was a large cat, about 14 lbs (6.35 kg), so I could always feel it when she came to bed. Now there are times when I feel the bed sink in a spot and I'll assume it's my current cat, Emily, but when I reach out to pet her she's not there. I believe it's Tessie, and she's come home for bedtime.'
