A 22-year-old British woman has died in a devastating tragedy after suffering a catastrophic allergic reaction during an international flight. The incident occurred on a Turkish Airlines flight from London to Istanbul, turning a routine journey into a nightmare.
The young woman, who had a known severe nut allergy, fell critically ill mid-flight after consuming a meal she believed to be safe. Despite the crew and a doctor on board administering multiple EpiPens, her condition rapidly deteriorated.
Emergency Response in the Skies
Passengers described a scene of panic and desperation as the medical emergency unfolded at 30,000 feet. A doctor travelling on the flight battled for 25 minutes to save her life using the aircraft's emergency medical kit. The pilot initiated an emergency descent and made a priority landing at Sabiha Gokcen airport in Istanbul.
Paramedics rushed on board but were unable to revive her. She was pronounced dead after being transferred to a private hospital in the city.
A Family's Unimaginable Grief
The victim's family is now seeking answers, heartbroken and questioning the events that led to her death. In a moving tribute, her sister described her as "the most beautiful girl inside and out" and expressed the family's profound devastation.
The incident has cast a stark light on the critical importance of clear allergen labelling for in-flight meals and the preparedness of airline crews to handle such severe medical emergencies.
