NHS patients who use Pharmacy2U for their prescriptions are receiving an urgent email from the company regarding a 'two-day' alert. Pharmacy2U, the largest online pharmacy in the UK, offers free delivery of NHS prescriptions and various health services directly to patients' homes.
Service Closure Over Bank Holiday
More than two million patients are registered with Pharmacy2U, and according to the latest statistics, over three million medicines are dispensed each month. The service delivers NHS repeat prescriptions at no cost, partnering with Royal Mail for tracked delivery, which typically takes two to three working days after GP approval.
In an email sent to users, Pharmacy2U is urging patients to ensure they have enough medication to last through the upcoming long bank holiday weekend. The service will be closed for two days, and patients are advised to "request your prescription as soon as possible."
Recommendations for Ordering
Pharmacy2U recommends placing repeat prescription orders online seven working days before medication is needed. This allows sufficient time for GP approval, dispensing, and delivery via Royal Mail Tracked. Although the process is often quicker, the seven-day window ensures timely arrival.
The email states: "We just wanted to remind you that if you need to order medicine in time for the May Day Bank Holiday weekend, please request your prescription as soon as possible so that there’s enough time for your GP to approve your request. This will enable us to dispense and deliver your medicine in plenty of time." It adds that the Customer Care team will be available during specified hours.
