Rock star Ozzy Osbourne has announced he has Parkinson's disease. The Black Sabbath singer, 71, told US television programme Good Morning America that he has a mild form of the condition, which he discovered after suffering a fall last February.
His wife Sharon Osbourne said: “It's not a death sentence but it affects certain nerves in your body. You have a good day, a good day, then a really bad day.” Ozzy added that it was hard to tell whether his numbness symptoms were from the Parkinson's or the fall, which required surgery on his neck.
The singer’s children, Jack and Kelly, were the first to notice something was wrong. Jack, who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2012, said he could relate to his father. “I understand when you have something you don't want to have,” he said. Ozzy noted that he is now on medication and feeling better than he did after the fall.
Ozzy had cancelled his 2019 tour dates due to his health issues, but is scheduled to resume performances with a US tour starting in Atlanta on 27 May, followed by rescheduled UK dates in Newcastle in October. The singer previously revealed in 2007 that he had Parkinsonian syndrome, a related condition.
