The NHS community is in mourning after a dedicated nurse was tragically killed in a hit-and-run collision while cycling to her night shift at Royal Stoke University Hospital.
Sharon Brown, 55, was struck by a vehicle on the A53 Newcastle Road in Stoke-on-Trent on Tuesday night. Despite the efforts of emergency services, she was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver failed to stop, sparking a police manhunt.

Staffordshire Police have launched a urgent appeal for information, urging any witnesses or drivers with dashcam footage to come forward. Officers are particularly keen to trace the movements of a light-coloured SUV, possibly a Nissan Qashqai or similar, seen in the area at the time.
Sergeant Rich Moors from the force's Collision Investigation Unit called the incident a 'devastating tragedy' and emphasised that apprehending the responsible driver is their absolute priority.
