A mother of two from Maesteg, South Wales, shed over seven stone to fit into her dream wedding dress, dropping from a size 16 to a size eight for her big day in May.
Kirsty Thomas, 25, spotted the A-line gown last summer but discovered it was only available in a size eight. Determined, she bought the dress anyway and set a goal to lose half a stone each month before her wedding.
“When I saw the dress, I just knew that I had to have it,” she said. “The fact that it was only available in a size eight was just the incentive I needed to really transform my life.”
Kirsty, who weighed 15 stone 4 pounds at the time, lost 5 stone 4 pounds in nine months through diet changes and regular exercise. She stopped snacking, cut down on puddings, and started walking more. She also used a diet supplement, Forza Raspberry K2 capsules, which she said gave her energy and curbed her snacking.
“I put on a lot of weight after the birth of my eldest son,” she explained. “You are told when you are pregnant that you can eat for two, but that is a complete myth.” She also admitted to being a comfort eater, often eating a whole packet of Jaffa Cakes on a bad day and five or six slices of bread with dinner.
The turning point came after a holiday in the Dominican Republic, where she felt self-conscious on the beach. “I knew I had to change,” she said. On her wedding day, the dress fitted perfectly. “My wedding day was the happiest of my life and I loved looking at the pictures afterwards. I had the wedding album I had always dreamed of.”
