Metallica is calling on their British fans to donate blood and plasma as they prepare for the UK leg of their world tour. The band has partnered with NHS Blood and Transplant, the Welsh Blood Service, and the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service to encourage both existing and new donors.
The initiative aims to boost blood stocks, which have a shelf life of just 35 days. Donated blood is vital for treating trauma victims, cancer patients, new mothers, and those with long-term conditions like sickle cell disease.
A band spokesperson said: 'Wherever we go on tour, we want to give something meaningful back to the communities that welcome us.' They added: 'We’re asking fans to step up and be part of something bigger than the show.'
Metallica will perform at Glasgow's Hampden Park and Cardiff's Principality Stadium in late June, followed by two dates at London Stadium in early July. The collaboration follows similar successful campaigns in the US and Australia.

Gerry Gogarty of NHSBT noted: 'Metallica are experts at raising the volume – and by calling on their millions of fans to become regular donors, they are helping to boost life-saving blood stocks.'
