Man Utd injury crisis: 10 players doubtful for Tottenham clash

Manchester United could have at least 10 players with fitness concerns ahead of Saturday's Premier League clash with Tottenham at Old Trafford. Michael Carrick's side have just five points from five games this season, and the visit of bottom-of-the-table Spurs offers an opportunity to turn results around.

Carrick will speak to the media later this week after the three-week international break, with plenty of team news expected. Injuries have flared up for United, and several players are doubtful for the weekend.

Defensive and midfield concerns

Tom Heaton picked up an injury during the friendly against Paris St-Germain in Gothenburg and hasn't been seen since. With Karl Darlow back fit and Dermot Mee regularly in the matchday squad, questions about Heaton are unlikely.

Noussair Mazraoui played left-back twice for Morocco but came off after 69 minutes in the win against Lesotho with an injury. He was absent from the squad for a friendly against Mali on Sunday. Matthijs de Ligt, who has gone more than 10 months without a competitive game, featured in a friendly against Lausanne-Sport on Friday and is now a regular part of first-team training.

Patrick Dorgu picked up a hamstring injury in Denmark's Nations League win against Wales and returned to Carrington for assessment. He missed three months with a hamstring problem earlier in the year. Manuel Ugarte remains a long-term absentee after a knee ligament injury during the World Cup.

Midfield and attacking doubts

Kobbie Mainoo withdrew from international duty after coming off 10 minutes from the end of the draw with Fulham, although Carrick said the decision was tactical. Bruno Fernandes came through Portugal's final two Nations League games without a problem after inheriting the captaincy from Cristiano Ronaldo, but he picked up a knock against Sabah and had to prove his fitness before the games against Manchester City and Fulham.

Amad hasn't played for United this season and didn't feature last week, but he is thought to be close to a return. Marcus Rashford picked up a hip injury in the World Cup, and the pain worsened during his return before the international break. FA officials understood his withdrawal, and there is hope the rest has helped it settle.

Benjamin Sesko is back on the treatment table after a recurrence of a shin injury that sidelined him for four months over the summer. He has undergone further tests and scans, but it remains to be seen whether he needs another period of rest.
