A man has died at a Wetherspoons pub in Gloucestershire after collapsing, prompting an air ambulance to be scrambled to the scene. The incident occurred at the Emerson's Green pub in Emersons Green, near Bristol, on Wednesday afternoon.
Avon and Somerset Police said they were called by the ambulance service at around 1:50pm following the sudden death of a man. The man, believed to be in his 80s, is understood to have suffered a suspected heart attack. His next of kin have been informed, and the death is not being treated as suspicious.
The South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust dispatched two double-crewed land ambulances, an air ambulance, a responding officer, and the hazardous area response team to the scene. A file will be prepared for the coroner.
A spokesperson for Wetherspoons confirmed that staff members will be supported following the tragedy. The pub chain also noted that a fellow customer had performed CPR until paramedics arrived, and the pub was closed to allow emergency services to work unhindered.
