Jessie J hospitalised for MRI after fearing broken neck in car accident

Jessie J was taken to hospital for an MRI scan after suffering a head injury while travelling to a performance. The 37-year-old singer feared she had broken her neck after climbing into a vehicle and hitting her head on the roof.

She documented the incident on social media, posting footage of herself undergoing the scan at hospital. Later, while preparing backstage, she gave an update to fans, saying she could not move her head but intended to take painkillers and continue with the show.

The singer, born Jessica Ellen Cornish, said she had not broken her neck but had injured it and her back. The incident comes after a difficult period for the artist, who has undergone two operations following a breast cancer diagnosis.

Jessie J had surgery in June last year to remove one of her breasts after being diagnosed with “early” breast cancer. She had recently postponed tour dates after announcing she would require a second surgery.

Speaking at the Music Industry Trust Awards, she reflected on how the diagnosis had changed her perspective on life. The singer became a mother for the first time in May 2023, welcoming her son Sky with partner Chanan Safir Colman, and has often spoken about the joy motherhood brings.
