HGTV Star Jenn Todryk Reveals Severe Autoimmune Battle and Network Struggles

Television personality Jenn Todryk has publicly detailed her challenging experience with chronic autoimmune illness, just days after suggesting her "entire character and integrity" faced potential destruction from a major television network. The 37-year-old HGTV star, best known for her show No Demo Reno, shared intimate details about her health struggles with hypothyroidism and Hashimoto's disease.

Chronic Health Diagnosis and Alarming Test Results

Todryk received her hypothyroidism diagnosis in 2014, followed by a Hashimoto's disease confirmation in 2017. In a recent video shared on Instagram, she revealed startling bloodwork results from October 2025 showing her antibody count had reached 5,000 - a figure dramatically higher than normal levels.

"It's just measuring your body's inflammation, and it's the only marker that tells you [if] you have Hashimoto's or not," Todryk explained in her social media clips. "The number is supposed to be zero. So, if you know someone that says, 'I have Hashimoto's,' she literally could have an antibodies measure of 20 or 35. That could be considered Hashimoto's. I have 5,000. So, not to brag, but I'm really bad. I have a very chronic case of Hashimoto's."

Understanding Hashimoto's Disease

According to medical authorities like the Mayo Clinic, Hashimoto's disease represents an autoimmune disorder that specifically targets the thyroid gland. In this condition, immune-system cells attack and destroy the thyroid's hormone-producing cells, typically resulting in diminished hormone production - a state medically recognized as hypothyroidism.

Cleveland Clinic notes that thyroid antibody tests generally yield either "negative" or "positive" results. A negative reading indicates antibody levels within normal parameters, while a positive result signifies elevated antibody concentrations beyond the standard range.

Surprising Health Improvement

Todryk concluded her video by disclosing that she previously took approximately twenty different supplements to combat inflammation. However, during the holiday season, she neglected her regular regimen except for a hormone pill and Glow by Beam - a drinkable hormone supplement she helped develop.

Remarkably, subsequent bloodwork revealed her antibody count had plummeted from 5,000 to just 257. While Todryk emphasized she would consult medical professionals to determine whether the supplements genuinely influenced this dramatic change, she expressed profound astonishment at the results.

"I still can't believe it," she admitted. "I've never had a good result. So, it's like, I don't know how to describe it. It's, like, something I dread doing. I'm constantly failing. I'm constantly getting bad news."

Career Success and Network Departure

Todryk rose to prominence in 2021 through her HGTV series No Demo Reno, which showcased her renovating spaces without demolition work. The program gained substantial popularity but mysteriously ceased airing new episodes following its third season conclusion in late 2023, without official cancellation or explanation.

Earlier this month, Todryk provided insight into her decision against filming a fourth season despite the show's success. During an episode of her You, Me & Mike podcast, which she co-hosts with husband Mike Todryk, the renovation expert confessed that lacking control over her television portrayal proved particularly difficult.

Her husband recalled how she resisted merely "showing up" for renovations and viewing "final cuts" without involvement in creative processes and editing decisions.

"I'm a control freak," Todryk acknowledged. "No one understands until your entire character integrity and image and as a person is in the hands of someone else and a rough edit can literally destroy that nowadays with content."

Todryk described reaching a point where she felt compelled to raise her "hands up" and "protect" herself, adding: "It makes you feel kind of like [people are] out to get you."

Mixed Feelings About Network Relationship

Interestingly, in March 2025, Todryk expressed exclusively positive sentiments about HGTV during an interview with TV Insider. When questioned about potential returns to the show, she indicated the "door was still open" and expressed gratitude for her "really awesome relationship" with the network.

"I know that the door is open so whenever I want to make content, I can," she stated. "That's something I'm really grateful for. But life is so busy right now, I'm just trying to survive with all the home life stuff now. But HGTV is great and I really have loved working with them."

This revelation creates a complex portrait of a television personality navigating significant health challenges while managing career pressures and creative autonomy concerns within the entertainment industry.
