Television presenter Eamonn Holmes is recovering in hospital after suffering a stroke. GB News, where Holmes co-hosts the breakfast show with Ellie Costello, confirmed the 66-year-old broadcaster became ill last week and is responding well to treatment.
A spokesperson for GB News said: "Eamonn has asked for privacy as he focuses on getting better. His colleagues and everyone at GB News wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to welcoming him back to the people's channel when he is ready to return."
Holmes, who previously presented ITV's This Morning with his former wife Ruth Langsford, has a history of serious health issues including spinal surgery, a double hip replacement, and two falls last year that required medical attention. He has also spoken about dislocating his pelvis and suffering three slipped discs.
GB News chief executive Angelos Frangopoulos added: "Eamonn is a loved member of the GB News family, and we're with him every step of the way as he recovers." Presenter Alex Armstrong will stand in alongside Ellie Costello this week.
