Donald Trump's former doctor, Harold Bornstein, has said he did not write a 2015 letter declaring the then-presidential candidate's health as 'astonishingly excellent'. In an interview with CNN, Bornstein claimed that Trump dictated the letter himself.
The letter, released during the 2016 campaign, stated that Trump would be 'the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency'. Bornstein told CNN that he only advised Trump on what he could not include. The White House has not commented on the allegation.
Bornstein also alleged that Trump's bodyguard and two other men conducted a 'raid' on his New York office in February 2017, taking all of Trump's medical records. The physician said the incident left him feeling 'raped, frightened and sad'. The White House previously described the removal as standard procedure.
The 2015 letter described Trump's blood pressure and lab tests as 'astonishingly excellent', noted he had lost 15 pounds, and claimed he had no cancer or joint surgery. Trump had tweeted that the report would show 'perfection'. Bornstein's motives for speaking out now remain unclear.
