Davina McCall has provided a major update on her health following surgery to remove a benign brain tumour. The 57-year-old former Big Brother host said she is feeling 'much better' as she recovers at home, with her short-term memory improving daily.
McCall underwent a six-hour operation earlier this month to remove a 14mm benign brain tumour, which was discovered during a routine scan a few months ago while she was giving a talk for a menopause company. She admitted being blindsided by the diagnosis, having believed she would 'ace' her health scan.
In a heartfelt Instagram update, McCall expressed gratitude for her stepmother Gaby, describing her as 'an amazing rock' and 'a big dose of vitamin G.' She also thanked her partner Michael and her mother for their care during her recovery.
Despite the surgery, McCall has chosen to continue filming her weekly podcast 'Begin Again' with Michael, stating she was 'adamant' that the tumour would not halt the show's progress. Earlier, Michael had announced she would be 'off grid' until fully recovered, but she has since resumed work.
McCall tearfully shared her gratitude, saying, 'I feel unbelievably grateful in my life right now. I'm on the mend, I'm resting, I'm sleeping loads and I feel really good. I just feel very lucky.'
