Dad's 1am Baby Monitor Check Reveals Empty Cot Panic

A father from Oxfordshire experienced a terrifying moment when he checked his baby monitor at 1am and found his daughter's cot seemingly empty. Thomas Weir, who shared the incident on TikTok, initially feared his baby had been taken.

The footage showed the cot completely empty, prompting Weir to rush into the room. He later discovered that his daughter had rolled into a blind spot directly under the camera, making her invisible on the monitor. A faint sound from the baby revealed her hiding spot.

Weir told Newsweek that his daughter, born five weeks premature, was not yet crawling or pulling herself up, so he was puzzled as to how she could have moved. He said, 'Once I woke up a bit I realised I couldn’t see her at all when moving the camera so ran in to go check on her.'

Other parents commented on the video sharing similar experiences with camera blind spots. One said, 'No I have the same blind spot and he always goes there I moved the camera to the other corner and now he sleeps in that corner.' Another added, 'My boy did this the other day and the alarm started going off, I've never woken up in such a panic!'

Weir has since repositioned the baby monitor to ensure full coverage of the cot, eliminating any hidden corners.
