BBC Breakfast weather presenter Carol Kirkwood has thanked emergency services after being knocked off her bike by a car. The incident left her with injuries, including a nasty wound on her knee, and required hospital treatment in Slough.
Kirkwood, who has been presenting the weather on the BBC since 1998, tweeted her gratitude to the police, ambulance crew, and hospital staff who assisted her. She returned to BBC Breakfast on Tuesday after a three-week absence.
Friends and colleagues, including Good Morning Britain presenter Charlotte Hawkins and fellow Strictly Come Dancing contestant Susan Calman, sent messages of support. Kirkwood said she was 'overwhelmed' by the response.
Prior to the accident, Kirkwood had been silent on social media since 22 April, when she urged followers to take care during the coronavirus pandemic. She has won the TRIC award for best TV weather presenter multiple times since 2003.
