A British man has died after collapsing at a hospital in Greece where he had taken his wife for emergency treatment.
The 55-year-old tourist was on holiday in Kalavryta, in the southern region of Achaea, when his wife fell ill. He drove her to Kalavryta Hospital on Wednesday afternoon, where medics began treating her.
While standing at his wife's bedside, the man suddenly collapsed. Hospital staff rushed to perform CPR, but he was pronounced dead a few minutes later.
The cause of death has not yet been determined. An autopsy is expected to take place in the coming days, and police in Kalavryta have launched a preliminary investigation into the incident.
According to local reports, the man's wife has since been discharged from hospital following treatment for her illness.
