The content creator died on March 26, marking the end of a six-year health journey that began when she first experienced debilitating symptoms at age 25.
A Life Shared with Followers
Ephrem amassed a substantial online following of more than 300,000 people on Instagram, where she openly shared insights into her chronic health condition. Her candid posts provided a window into the realities of living with a serious illness, earning her widespread admiration and support from her digital community.
Family Announcement and Tributes
Her death was formally announced through a heartfelt post published on her Instagram profile. The tribute remembered Ephrem as someone who lived "with intensity, with faith, and with a love that touched so many lives." It continued: "She went to find rest in heaven, alongside the saints and Our Lady, after a journey marked by great struggle, courage, and also much pain. Her story does not end here - it lives on in everything she planted within each of us. We carry on with a sense of longing, but also with gratitude for having walked alongside her."
Medical History and Diagnosis
According to reports from Brazilian outlet g1, Ephrem initially developed symptoms including high fever, joint pain, diarrhea, and vomiting when she was 25 years old. After extensive medical evaluation, she received a diagnosis of a rare auto-inflammatory condition. These disorders involve immune system dysfunction and represent a group of uncommon medical challenges, as explained by Boston Children's Hospital.
Ephrem spent the majority of her final years receiving hospital treatment. On March 14, her family disclosed that her condition had become critical, accompanied by extreme pain. They wrote: "The medical team has yet to identify the bacteria responsible for the infection, which has made the treatment even more delicate. She's currently being treated with three antibiotics and had to be intubated at 11am today. We ask you to continue praying for Ritinha, so that God sustains her and leads each decision of the medical team."
Outpouring of Support and Condolences
Following the news of her passing, tributes have flooded social media platforms. One follower commented: "A grateful heart all the time even in pain. Go in peace my love, may Jesus receive you in a big hug full of love. My condolences to friends and family." Another wrote: "Ritinha leaves an example of faith, resilience, strength and trust in God. May God comfort the hearts of all who lived with her."
Ephrem is scheduled to be laid to rest in São Paulo on April 31, where family, friends, and supporters will gather to honor her memory and the impactful legacy she leaves behind through her public health advocacy and personal strength.
