Comedian John Bishop was seen walking his two English Bull Terriers near his family home on Monday, marking what appeared to be his first public appearance since recovering from COVID-19. The 54-year-old had tested positive for the virus in December, along with his wife Melanie, describing the illness as 'the worst I have ever had'.
Bishop shared his diagnosis on social media on 30th January, posting a picture of the positive test notification received on Christmas Day. He wrote: 'This is the worst illness I have ever had, debilitating headaches, muscle joint and even skin pain, dizziness, nausea, no appetite, incredibly chronic fatigue'. He added that both he and his wife are 'fit non smokers' and the virus had 'flattened' them.
On New Year's Eve, Bishop thanked fans for their 'overwhelming' support and confirmed signs of improvement. He said: 'Every day we are getting a little stronger and I will be back at work in Jan'. The comedian, who revealed last year he has shadows on his lungs, had previously detailed a cancer scare in his memoir How to Grow Old: A Middle-aged Man Moaning, released in November.
Bishop and Melanie have been married since 1993, with an 18-month separation beginning in 2000, and share three sons: Joe, 26, Luke, 24, and Daniel, 22.
