Coronation Street legend Beverley Callard has bravely opened up about a terrifying health scare as she continues her battle with breast cancer. The 69-year-old actress, best known for playing Rovers Return landlady Liz McDonald, revealed she may have a suspected blood clot.
Latest Health Update
Beverley, who also appeared on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, shared the news with fans on Instagram. She explained that while she has good news about returning to work, she is facing a potential complication.
"Well, I've got sort of good news, well definitely good news, but maybe bad news, but I'm not sure yet," she said.
The good news is that her new script arrived, preparing her for a return to work at the end of next week. "I'm excited, I can't wait to go back to work, and the scripts are fantastic," she beamed.
Suspected Blood Clot
However, Beverley revealed she has been experiencing significant pain in her right leg. "I had to go to the GP today and it's a suspected blood clot which can happen if you've got cancer and if you've had surgery," she explained.
Detailing her reaction, she added: "Now it might not be, but you know you think, 'Oh no, please, no, no, no, no, no, no.'" She is scheduled for hospital tests at 8am the next morning and will see a radiotherapist later that day.
Despite the scare, Beverley remains positive: "I'm feeling fine, I'm feeling quite positive. So I thank you so much for all your wonderful messages and I'm listening to everybody and trying to take everything in."
Emotional Struggles
Earlier this month, Beverley confessed she had "completely crashed" emotionally while battling the illness. Speaking on June 6, she revealed she had made an appointment for Botox to boost her confidence before returning to work.
"I go back to work soon too so I don't want to look like the walking dead, which, sometimes I do at the moment," she said. She described a moment when she saw her body in the mirror and felt devastated: "I completely crashed emotionally and just thought...'Oh my God, I look like a freak.'"
Beverley acknowledged she has strong support from her husband Jon and her family and friends, but admitted the emotional toll is heavy. "I crashed emotionally and I just thought 'I can't do this anymore.' I got myself together but I didn't feel brilliant," she added.
The soap star initially announced her breast cancer diagnosis in January and underwent surgery in February. She continues to share her journey with fans, offering updates and expressing gratitude for their support.
