Paramedics from NEAS were dispatched at 11:25 AM on June 7, 2026, following reports of a medical emergency in the Tynemouth area. A doctor and paramedic from GNAAS also attended the scene, providing critical care before the patient was transported to hospital by road ambulance.
A spokesperson for NEAS confirmed: 'We received a call at 11:25am for a medical incident at a private address in the Tynemouth area. We dispatched the air ambulance and an ambulance crew who took one patient to hospital by road.'
Helicopter Landing in Priors Park
Witnesses reported seeing the GNAAS helicopter hovering over Tynemouth for several minutes before it touched down in Priors Park, a popular green space near the coast. The aircraft remained on the ground for approximately 45 minutes while the medical team treated the patient.
A GNAAS spokeswoman provided further details: 'Our critical care team was activated at 11:36am to an incident in Tynemouth. We had a paramedic and doctor on board our aircraft and they arrived on scene at 11:50am. Our team worked alongside the North East Ambulance Service to assess and treat a patient.'
The helicopter departed the scene at around 12:35 PM, leaving the patient in the care of NEAS for onward transport to hospital. The nature of the medical incident has not been disclosed, and authorities have not released any information about the patient's condition.
