Adil Ray Clashes with Tory MP Simon Hart over Rwanda Asylum Plan on GMB

Good Morning Britain host Adil Ray faced criticism from viewers after a heated exchange with Conservative MP Simon Hart over the government's Rwanda asylum policy. The interview, which aired on Thursday, saw Ray repeatedly interrupt Hart as the MP defended the plan to send asylum seekers to Rwanda.

Hart argued the policy aims to "control our borders not close them" and is designed to combat human trafficking. However, Ray questioned the distinction between refugees from different countries, asking why Ukrainian refugees are offered sanctuary while others are sent to Rwanda. "Why is it one rule for Ukrainians and another rule for the others?" Ray demanded.

The MP responded by stating the need to differentiate between refugees, asylum seekers, and economic migrants. Ray countered: "But without a legal system you can’t make that distinction. You’re going to make that distinction in Rwanda which seems absurd."

Viewers took to social media to criticise Ray's interviewing style, with many accusing him of not allowing Hart to finish his answers. One viewer wrote: "Why do the hosts of GMB never let anyone finish a god damn sentence?" Another said: "Your presenters never give the guest time to speak they just rant over the top of them."

However, some supported Ray, with one viewer describing his performance as "excellent". The clash highlights ongoing public debate over the government's asylum policy, which charities have condemned as "cruel".
