Jenny Slatten, star of the reality TV series 90 Day Fiancé, has announced she was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) in December 2025, one year after first experiencing symptoms. The 68-year-old shared the news in an Instagram post on Tuesday, stating that initial rumours of a stroke turned out to be ALS.
Slatten and her husband, Sumit Singh, 38, told People magazine they are doing what they can to manage the disease. Slatten said she first noticed symptoms in December 2024 when she choked badly while drinking water, followed by difficulty swallowing and speech problems. Singh noticed her speech slowing during a holiday party in December 2025, prompting fans to suggest ALS.
The couple consulted several neurologists in India, where Slatten received her diagnosis. Singh described the progression as slow, and they are exploring treatments. Slatten’s father died from ALS a decade ago. She entered reality TV in 2019 on 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, documenting her move to India, and married Singh in 2021. They will appear in the upcoming spin-off 90 Day: The Last Resort.
Slatten is the latest TV star to disclose an ALS diagnosis, following Russell Andrews and the late Eric Dane. ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, is a form of motor neurone disease affecting movement, speech, and independence.
