Fresh health fears have been raised over President Donald Trump after a forensic psychologist identified a "troubling pattern" that is only "getting worse". Dr John Paul Garrison, a forensic psychologist, has sounded the alarm over the president's "spasms and verbal glitches", warning they are escalating.
Psychologist's Warning
Dr Garrison compiled several recent clips of Mr Trump into a YouTube video, suggesting they displayed "highly concerning behaviour" including "slurring" and "word-finding issues". He proposed these could be symptomatic of "significant decline", adding that the "concerning behaviours we're seeing are in line with a variety of neurological concerns".
This comes months after the president's 80th birthday in June, which saw conversations around his physical and cognitive wellbeing intensify. This follows a series of public gaffes and visible bruising and swelling on his hand, as well as a book by two former White House correspondents that detailed his unusual habits and daily routine.
Public Incidents
The US leader has previously provoked public concern by appearing to fall asleep in public, most recently while delivering remarks at the Rose Garden on August 24. Clips circulated online also showed him appearing to drift off as his administration revealed changes to its child vaccination policy in February, during a 'Making Health Technology Great Again' event at the White House, and at a cabinet meeting last year.
Official Rebuttal
Mr Trump's doctors and the White House have repeatedly disputed any suggestion of ill health and insisted he remains in a "perfect" condition. The president's physician, Sean Barbarella, said in May: "President Trump remains in excellent health, demonstrating strong cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and overall physical function."
"His demanding daily schedule, including multiple high-level meetings, public engagements, and regular physical activity, continues to support his overall well-being. Cognitive and physical performance are excellent. He is fully fit to carry out all duties of the Commander-in-Chief and Head of State."
