Stephen Graham paid an emotional tribute to his wife Hannah Walters after winning Best Male Actor in a Limited Series at the Golden Globes for his role in Netflix's Adolescence. The 52-year-old actor said she had 'saved my life' during his acceptance speech at the Beverly Hilton hotel on Sunday.
Graham praised Walters, who is also a co-star and executive producer on the show, calling her 'one of the best producers ever and a woman I'm very, very lucky to be married to'. He added: 'I've said it before, but you saved my life. You saved my life.'
The actor also dedicated the award to his two children, Grace and Alfie, and to his late mother and father. He said: 'To my two beautiful children, Grace and Alfie, I love you to the moon and back forever. My dad, my pops, my hero, and I would just like to dedicate this particular award to my mom and all my friends and family.'
Graham began his speech by congratulating the other nominees in his category, including Jacob Elordi, Paul Giamatti, Charlie Hunnam, Jude Law and Matthew Rhys. He described their performances as 'outstanding' and said it was an honour to share the space with them.
As he made his way to the stage, Graham was hugged by his Gangs of New York co-star Leonardo DiCaprio and expressed surprise at seeing Queen Latifah in the audience. He ended his speech with a quote from Bob Marley: 'One love!'
In the same category, Michelle Williams won Best Female Actor in a Limited Series for Dying for Sex, but was not present to accept the award. Presenters Melissa McCarthy and Katherine Hahn collected it on her behalf.
