Scots influencer Danielle Quinn enters hospice care in cancer battle

Glasgow influencer Danielle Quinn, 41, has entered hospice care after doctors told her there are no more treatments left for her rare ovarian cancer. The content creator, who has 37.8k Instagram followers, shared the heartbreaking update in a video filmed last month.

Diagnosis and treatment journey

Danielle was diagnosed with Stage 3 low-grade serous carcinoma in December 2022, after initially being misdiagnosed with IBS. The finance manager had 10 organs removed in an attempt to beat the disease, including her womb, cervix, both fallopian tubes, both ovaries, spleen, part of her bowel, part of her diaphragm, and omentum.

Speaking in the video, Danielle said: "I fought as hard as I could but it turns out that life just has other plans for me. There are no more treatments left for my cancer and I'm now receiving end of life care."

Difficult words and a changed life

She added: "It's been a very difficult nine weeks since going back into hospital and it's really strange to try and find the words to tell people that I'm dying when I feel so alive. For however long I've got left, life looks different now. I've built my home to be so comfortable that I'm so happy to be here, being surrounded by my family, laughing when we can and making the ordinary days extraordinary."

Before her diagnosis, Danielle was fit and healthy but began suffering severe abdominal pain and bloating that wouldn't go away. Despite multiple GP visits, her symptoms were initially diagnosed as IBS and gastroenteritis.

Emergency surgery and aftermath

She was later rushed to hospital where doctors drained six litres of fluid from her abdomen. After tests and scans, medics decided she needed a two-hour hysterectomy, but the procedure turned into seven hours as an MRI revealed anomalies around her abdomen. Danielle woke up in intensive care to learn surgeons had removed multiple organs.

Danielle previously said: "Being told I would never have children and waking up from surgery having lost 10 organs was devastating." She opted for hormone therapy over chemotherapy and initially did well, but her cancer returned in October 2024. She went into hospice care last week and stopped her liquid diet.

Speaking previously, she added: "It hasn't been an easy road. There's a lot to take in when you are only 41 and you are being treated for end of life and you're putting plans in place to make you comfortable, you're talking about hospices and medications. It can be a very difficult and dark place to be... I just want to live every day I've got left."
