Rylan Clark has revealed that his marriage to ex-husband Dan Neal ended after he confessed to being unfaithful years earlier. The TV presenter, 33, said he told Dan about the infidelity in May 2021, leading to the collapse of their six-year marriage.
In his new book Ten: The Decade That Changed My Future, Rylan details the severe impact this had on his mental health. He said he went into 'self blame' mode and felt his life was over, spending time hiding at his mother's house. He attempted to take his own life, writing: 'I'd lost what I thought was everything... And so I tried to end it.'
Rylan was admitted to a mental health unit, describing the experience as 'f*cked up' and saying he never thought it would happen to him. He spoke at a London event about the difficulty of revisiting those dark times while writing the book, but emphasised that ultimately, 'you are the only one who can get out'.
In June 2021, Rylan released a statement blaming himself for the marriage breakdown, saying he had made 'a number of mistakes' and was seeking help. He added that he was 'not in a good place at the moment' and asked for privacy.
Rylan and Dan married in 2015 and split last year. The book, published by Seven Dials, is out on September 29.
