Ranvir Singh, known for presenting Good Morning Britain since 2014, has opened up over the years about her health struggles, personal heartbreak and relationships away from the TV cameras.
The journalist first rose to prominence on the BBC, where she presented North West Tonight, before joining Good Morning Britain in 2014. She competed in the 18th series of Strictly Come Dancing in 2020, partnered with professional dancer Giovanni Pernice, and hosts her own ITV quiz show Riddiculous.
Health battle with alopecia
Ranvir has been open about her struggles with alopecia, telling MailOnline: "I’ve suffered with alopecia. It’s a continuing issue. When I’m on set, my biggest concern about my hair is it gapping at the front."
The TV star also shared how her hair loss became noticeable at a challenging time in her life, adding: "When I first started on national TV in 2012 I’d just had a baby, a time when hair loss can occur naturally, and a hairdresser said, ‘Why don’t you try extensions?’ Now I have them, but it’s an expensive solution."
Ranvir recalled how she has explored several options to address the issue but found limitations. She said: "I considered a hair transplant, but from what I understand I don’t have enough hair follicles at the back to do that."
Father's death and its impact
Ranvir went through heartbreak as a child when her father died aged 42. Ranvir was just nine years old at the time. Talking about his death on GMB, Ranvir previously said: "He had a heart attack.
"Given that we're heading into New Year's Eve, it took me until about four or five years ago to understand why I absolutely have always hated New Year's Eve because my dad died on January 21st but I never understood why I had a sense of foreboding about this 'greatest night of the year'."
Following her father's tragic loss, Ranvir started to become aware of her hair loss. Mourning her dad, she began witnessing more hair receding. "My world was completely ripped apart," she told The Mirror about her dad’s passing before revealing: "And that’s when the hair loss went completely haywire. I’d wake up and my pillow would be covered in clumps".
Split from husband and new romance
Ranvir was previously married to Ranjeet Singh Dehal. The pair tied the knot in 2012 and share a son Tushaan - born 2012. In 2020 though, Ranvir announced her separation from Ranjeet.
In 2024, Ranvir gave an insight into her split, revealing she was seven months pregnant when she split from Ranjeet. On the White Wine Question Time with Kate Thornton podcast, Ranvir said: "I have actually been a single mum since I was seven months pregnant. I’ve kept that so quiet but I am okay to talk about it now.
"Now I’m at a point in my life where I think that I’m learning to embrace my whole life and to not compartmentalise it as much, to keep everything separate. And that’s a me thing." She added: "I’m happy to correct it today. Obviously my friends and family have known. It shows you can keep private whatever you choose to!"
Ranvir is currently loved-up with Louis Church, who is nearly 18 years younger. The pair first met when Ranvir appeared on Strictly while he worked as a production secretary. In 2022, Ranvir joked about Louis’ age, telling The Sun's Fabulous magazine: "We don’t ever joke about the age difference. Actually, age is no guarantee of someone being wonderful to you.
"There are complete gits who are exactly the same age as you. Age can define life experience, but that is only valuable if you've learned from it – it doesn't always mean you've got your life figured out. There are things that he is better at than I am in terms of just being a good human being and I'm learning from him. So to me, it's a complete joy."
