Katie Price has revealed she may buy a new home to support her mum Amy, who is battling a terminal lung condition. The former glamour model, 48, opened up about the situation on her podcast, admitting that the illness may force her to purchase a property on the Isle of Wight to help with caring responsibilities.
Health battle and family plans
Amy Price was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) in 2017 and recently spent a lengthy period in hospital. She currently lives on the Isle of Wight, while Katie resides in a four-bedroom mansion in Sussex. Speaking on the Katie Price Show, Katie said she is considering getting a small place near her mum so she can split her time between the two locations.
She explained: "I said if there were stables or something in the Isle of Wight, like a one-bedroom or two-bedroom, just little place for stables. Then I could do both. Have a little lookie look. No, I'm not moving to the Isle of Wight but I'd get a place there."
Family taking turns to care
Katie admitted the situation is "hard" and that her sister Sophie, who co-hosts the podcast, suggested the family could all help with their mum. Katie added: "We can all be the carer for mother because I think she needs help now and Paul needs help and it's not fair from Stuart on his own. So we're all taking it in turns. We've all decided as a family we've got to take it in turns. But that's what families do. You all looked after me when I needed it. And now mum needs looking after in a different way."
IPF is a chronic illness where lung tissue becomes thick, stiff, and scarred over time. Symptoms can include shortness of breath, a dry cough, and tiredness.
Emotional moments and health decline
Katie previously became emotional about her mum's condition during the launch of her Sky documentary Katie Price: Nothing To Hide in London in June. She thanked Amy for attending despite her health battle, saying: "She only got out of hospital five days ago and she's been in there for weeks. And the fact you're here looking gorgeous." She reportedly had to stop to wipe her eyes as she began to cry.
Earlier this year, Katie shared a video highlighting how her mum's physical condition had changed, noting she is "a lot more frail than she used to be" but added: "Don't let that fool you because her head is still screwed on!" In March last year, Katie revealed Amy had been struggling to walk after undergoing a lung transplant as she continues to fight IPF.
