A father of three has died after suffering a sudden cardiac arrest while sledding with his children during a winter storm in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Nathan Phillips, described as an “incredible father,” collapsed on Saturday, 24 January, and passed away in front of his sons.
Chris Presley, who organised a GoFundMe to cover funeral expenses, wrote: “He passed on 1/24/26 due to a sudden cardiac arrest while sledding with his children. We take comfort in knowing that we will see him again and the last thing he saw was the joy on his kids' faces, and the first thing he saw was the face of Jesus.”
Phillips’ sister, Sharon Phillips, an anchor at local television station KJRH, acknowledged her brother’s death in a social media post on Tuesday, 27 January. She thanked viewers and colleagues for their support, saying: “He passed away Saturday while sledding with his children during the winter storm. Our hearts are broken, but your messages, kindness, and support have meant more than I can put into words.”
Presley described Phillips as a devoted father, an excellent musician and worship leader, a gifted cook, and an avid hunter. He also worked as a nurse educator at Saint Francis Hospital, where he “shaped, taught, and inspired countless nurses.” The GoFundMe, which aims to support Phillips’ family, had raised nearly $30,000 as of Friday, 30 January.
